Frequently Asked Questions

About Presets

Adobe Lightroom, often referred to as “Lightroom” or “LR” is software developed by Adobe, the makers of Photoshop and many other awesome tools for creative artists. With Lightroom you can import all of your images into one tool, organize your work in folders and also synchronize those with your other devices. In addition to that, you can develop your images in many ways – you can change the coloring, the lightning, crop and many more. There are many people that would argue that pictures that are not edited, don’t look that good anymore. After editing your pictures (RAW or other formats), you can export them in any format to your PC or straight into other tools such as Adobe Photoshop for further editing.

If you’re not familiar at all with Presets, the easiest way to imagine what they are is to think of “Filters” that you use in almost all social media platforms. After editing a picture in Lightroom, you can create “Presets” that basically contain all the information that is used to transform the source image into what it became after editing. That means that you can use that “Preset” and apply it to other pictures as well instead of editing each picture on its own.

My presets can technically be applied to all images that will end up in your Lightroom (not only RAWs but also JPG). However, that does not mean that it will look good! Presets are there to save time and give the person using them a base from which he/her can continue.

Not all presets look the same on different pictures – it could be that your favorite preset works perfectly fine on a sunny beach shot but looks like crap in a garage shot! Good presets can be applied to a certain range of pictures, but not the whole range.

My preset packs usually have a broad range of presets that were developed based on a huge variety of sample images in order to work for all kinds of shots. You will have certain presets for the sunny shots and other presets in the pack for the garage shots to make sure you’re covered as good as possible.

One huge factor is the lightning. If your pictures are too dark it may happen, that you need to bump up the exposure after applying a preset. The same goes for pictures that are to bright, in that case you may need to de-expose your picture after applying the preset to get to the best result. Check out my blog to read/watch a tutorial on how to do that!

The presets are for Adobe Lightroom Classic only.

The presets are meant for Adobe Lightroom Classic only. It works for the latest versions of the Adobe Creative Cloud (2017, 2018, 2019). It will probably work on the non-classic Lightroom and older versions too, but we did not test that. If you have an older version installed on your PC and purchased and tested the presets successfully, please let us know so we can change this text here. 🙂
